This October saw a cool start that delayed the availability of some lines. October saw the first of the long awaited peonies, but not until the very last week of the month and only a limited colour range. We had salmon pink and light pink, and have been beautiful. White was not readily available.
Anenomes, Arabs eye, chincherinchee, pieris and liliy of the valley have been available.
Lilac and heleborus has been available. Hydrangea has started, with plenty of green toned white. Bright white harder to get.
We have continued to get sweet pea, hyacinth, tulips and iris. Our central coast supplier of freesias and ranunculus has finished by the end of the month but managed to get both of these on preorder from the markets. Poppies have been less readily available by the end of October.
Earlicheer, jonquils and daffodils are no longer available.
Lavender and daisies have continued to be available.
The colour range in locally grown roses has been lovely, with the Spring flush making roses plentiful at market.
Blue butterfly delphinium has been the only delphinium available, in both darker blue and lighter blue. Snap dragons and stock have also been beautiful.
Birds of paradise has been available most of the month.
Local arums (white, marshmallow and green godess) are available, but only a few imported callas have been available.
Orchids, oriental lilies, asiatic lilies, longiflorum lilies, carnations, alstromeria, chrysanthemum and gladioli have been available. Local cymbidium orchids have been fantastic, in a lovely colour range.
King proteas and waratah have been available this month. Sea holly, banksias (coccinea, hookerania and menziesii), beautiful red and green leacadendron, and gumnuts have been available. Boronia and wax flower have both been available. Flannel flower has started. Flowering gum hasn't started yet. Blushing bride has been hard to get.
Hypericum has been available (imported) sporadically and has been a little hard to find. Ivy berry has been available. Green berries have been hard to get.
Managed to get a few imported lisianthus but no local available, with the imported lisianthus no where near as nice as the locally grown.
Blossom has finished.
Magnolia, camellia and vibernum has been a little soft and with yellow tones.XX
