A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US: 25 YEARS AS A FAMILY OWNED CANBERRA SMALL BUSINESS

As our 25th birthday approaches we thought it was a good time to let you know a little bit about us.

Poetry in Flowers was first born in 1998 by my beautiful Aunt, Liz. It was one of the very first retail stores in Gungahlin opening alongside Woolworths at the Marketplace 25 years ago next month. Back then I came along to opening day with Liz to help out on what turned out to be a busy grand opening not knowing that I would eventually take over the shop.

Over the years the Poetry shop front has moved between The Marketplace and The Village buildings in Gungahlin but we have now settled in nicely at The Marketplace and love our centre neighbours who share our passion for supporting the local community. We buy Australian made as much as possible and have come to stock many beautiful gifts to sell alongside our flowers from other small Australian business's.

I joined the Poetry family in 2007 and after experiencing the joy of helping people express their love and gratitute while exploring my creativity I became instantly hooked! My love and passion for everything floral grew and when Liz decided to retire from floristry, buying the shop was an easy choice.

As well as running the business, my husband and I are very proud parents to two beautiful young kids. Having a family and a business can be a difficult juggling act but we are so lucky to have the most amazing and talented team around us at the shop where we will be forever grateful for all of their kindness and support.

Running a business is hard work but we are so grateful for everyone who comes into our store or orders online and for allowing us to be a part of creating such special memories.

Thank you for taking the time to find out more about us. We are passionate about providing you with great florals in store and for delivery around Canberra and Queanbeyan and thrive on being a part of our Gungahlin community.
