As florists Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest and most emotional days of our year. Every February we hear the same question, especially in the final days leading up to the 14th:
“Is it too late to order Valentine’s Day flowers?”
The honest answer is: not always.
If you’re hoping to send red roses in Canberra at the last minute here’s what we want you to know.
Why Red Roses Go First
Red roses are the most requested flower for Valentine’s Day. They’re timeless, romantic and instantly understood. Because of this they’re also the first to become limited as Valentine’s Day approaches.
In the days leading up to the 14th, availability can change quickly. As local florists, we work closely with growers and suppliers, but once roses sell through, they sell through.
That said we always recommend preordering to make sure you secure roses.
Ordering Flowers Close to Valentine’s Day
When orders come in late, flexibility helps everyone.
You might notice that:
-
Designs are based on seasonal availability
-
Exact flower varieties may vary
-
Delivery windows are broader due to volume
This doesn’t mean your flowers won’t be beautiful. In fact, many last-minute Valentine’s bouquets are some of our favourites - thoughtfully made, fresh and designed with care rather than copied from a template.
Valentine’s Day Flower Delivery in Canberra
We deliver flowers across Canberra and surrounding suburbs and Valentine’s Day delivery runs a little differently to normal days.
On peak dates like the 14th:
-
Deliveries can not be scheduled for specific timeframes rather we work on a get as many done as early as we can rule
-
Same-day delivery is not always available with orders often cut off in the days prior once we reach our drivers capacity
We always recommend double-checking addresses and message details to avoid delays on such a busy day.
If Red Roses Are Limited
If we’re running low on classic red roses, we may suggest:
- Red roses paired with seasonal blooms
- Romantic colour palettes using red, blush and pink tones
- Lush designs with fewer roses but more texture and movement
These arrangements still feel very much like Valentine’s Day - just a little more natural and bespoke.
A Note From Us as Florists
Valentine’s Day is fast-paced and intense behind the scenes. Our team starts early, works long hours and focuses on getting every order out fresh and on time.
If you’re ordering last minute, the biggest gift you can give your florist is trust. Trust that we’ll choose beautiful flowers, design them with intention and deliver them with care.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for last-minute Valentine’s Day red roses in Canberra, ordering sooner rather than later always helps - but even close to the day, there’s often still something lovely we can create.
Sometimes, the most meaningful gestures are the ones made just in time.
