July Flower Availability

Prices were driven up the last year for all flowers with farm costs exploding but had been remaining steady for a few months but now with more costs increasing across the board expected for our farmers and small businesses like ours we are unfortunately expecting more dramatic price hikes to come these next few months which we are devastated about. We are still committed to purchasing our flowers directly from as many farms as we can favouring locally grown blooms at our little store over imports as we have done since 1998.
Poppies, freesias, hyacinth, lavender, tulips and iris have all been around in early July. We have also had daffodils and plenty of earlicheer jonquils. Ranunculas are expected any day now.
Dahlias are sadly coming to an end for the season.
Roses have been readily available, with imports in a new range of colours making up the shortfall of local production. Blue butterfly delphinium has been the only delphinium available, in both darker blue and lighter blue. Snap dragons and stock have also been beautiful.
Arabs eye, daphne, violets or lily of the valley are not yet available.
Malucca balm, pepper berry, amaranth and hypericum have been available. Orchids, oriental lilies, asiatic lilies, longiflorum lilies, carnations, alstromeria, chrysanthemum, gladioli and sunflowers have been available.
Local cymbidium orchids have been fantastic, in a very lovely colour range.
Blushing bride, erica, banksias (coccinea, hookerania and menziesii), beautiful red and green leacadendron, tetra nuts and gumnuts have been available. Red wax bud and wax flower have both been available and we have been getting them in abundance at our shop and wax flowers is starting to come in. Proteas have been available in a beautiful range of varieties, although not in great numbers.
Gymea lilies are available this month. Beautiful blossom branches have just started. Magnolia bud branches are also available. There has been limited and expensive lisianthus.
