SPRING IS HERE and the days are finally getting warmer. Floriade and Tulip Tops Gardens have opened and the flowers available this month are a promise of more beautiful days ahead.
We saw the start of locally grown ranunculus this month, along with anemone, stock, sweet pea, freesias, tulips, iris and poppies
Hopefully the locally grown roses will start later this month.
Blue butterfly delphinium has been available in royal blue, light blue and white. Snap dragons and stock have also been beautiful.
Orchids, oriental lilies, asiatic lilies, longiflorum lilies, carnations, alstromeria and chrysanthemum have been easily available.
Local cymbidium orchids continue to be fantastic, in a lovely colour range although numbers have already started to be a but limited by mid September.
Gymea lilies have still been available this month. Sea holly, blushing bride, banksias (coccinea, hookerania and menziesii), beautiful red and green leacadendron, berzillea and gumnuts have been available. Red wax bud and wax flower have both been available. Pink and brown boronia has started and the red waratah have been absolutely stunning but a quite pricey.
Pink and white blossom branches has been available this month, but easing in numbers.
Only some imported lisianthus and hypericum have been available.
Lily of the valley or hydrangea haven't started yet but we can't wait for them.
